Bank Establishment

Iraqi Islamic Bank for Investment and Development was established on December 19, 1992, and began its operations with full authorization from the Central Bank of Iraq on February 23, 1993. Since then, the bank has been actively participating in the economic development and growth of the country.

Iraqi Islamic Bank leads the forefront of banks in Iraq, being the first Islamic bank operating according to Islamic Sharia principles and regulations. It has distinguished itself by innovating and developing banking transactions in line with the country's economic reality.

Capital and Growth

Since its establishment in 1992 with 126.4 million dinars, the bank has witnessed continuous growth in capital to reach 400 billion dinars in 2025. This growth reflects the great confidence of shareholders in the bank's strategy and future directions.

Iraqi Islamic Bank is considered one of the largest Islamic banks in Iraq in terms of capital and geographical spread, with an extensive network of branches and offices covering most Iraqi governorates.

The Iraqi Islamic Bank is committed to full compliance with Islamic Sharia principles in all its transactions and products. This is supervised through the Fatwa and Sharia Supervisory Board, composed of a select group of scholars specialized in Islamic financial jurisprudence.

The Board reviews and monitors all banking operations and products to ensure their compliance with Islamic Sharia principles, and issues the necessary fatwas and guidance to ensure the integrity of transactions from a Sharia perspective.
